http://www.gamefront.com/files/21883462/Levels.rar

Hi Brad

I came back to China on the 19th of June, and I had uploaded part of the required stuff into my blog for EXP 3. I then decided to upload the link of the EXP 3 cryengine into my blog in China. However, China had blocked and restricted every foreign websites so that I had to use a special tool to access my blog and upload the rest of my assignment 3. I was told yesterday that there was no link under my "Link of Cryengine" post, I then realized that something went wrong.. So sorry for the delay but it is fixed.    I had also send this message to you by email. Thanks

ARCH 1142 -- Montage It

 The Poster

The model took me more than 40 hours to design and make, even longer than making the Fisher House model for Model It. Once I chose ceramicist as my artist the first thing that came cross my mind was clay, and my model was highly influenced and inspired by the dry soil or dry clay. I considered every aspect while making this model, the artist that I chose is a Chinese ceramicist named Hua Wei, he is now living waterside where there is an ancient kiln and national heritage site near by, that was why I made my selection of these scenes where there are both kiln and water. Besides, Wei likes places with water because the flowing of water gives him inspiration and most of his sculptures have the sense of flowing water. Wei is also a person who likes to use recycle materials and that was the reason why I made my roof a slope to collect rain water. Through this exercise, my model making and photoshop skills were highly improved.

Detail 2 -- The window decoration, I purposely made the window decorated like this to connect the building with the traditional Chinese style.

Detail 3 -- Stairs to the exhibition room.

Week 2 -- Scenes

The scene that I used for my final presentation.

Week 3 -- Final presentation

The building sits next to a kiln and it is at the riverside, with a natural park on the opposite side.

Look out from the exhibition room, a part of river and the natural vegetation in the park can be seen.

ARCH 1142 -- Model it

The Poster
Bacelona Pavillion: This model took me around 15 hours to finish since this was actually my first time doing this kind of models by using balsa wood, I found it really challenging and frustrating while crafting this balsa wood at first but I got used to it gradually.

The site model of Fisher House: This is the most beautiful model that I made in model it exercise. I actually did one first with white boxboard, however, it looked too bad with no features, I then decided to redo it by using this fabric carpet-like materil. The soft and hairy surface of this material indicates the grass and soil of the landscape.  After finishing this model, I learned that everything needs to be managed and thought well before doing the model otherwise it would be too late to change after all; besides, cutting the fabric and pasting them in the way that I wanted was not an easy job, I spent a lot of time doing this and ended up with finishing this model on time, throughout this process, I had managed the fabric cutting and pasting skills as well.
The Fisher House: I gradually got on well with crafting and pasting balsa wood and box board, I actually found it interesting at this stage, however, the Fisher House still took me around 30 hours because of its details in many places that need to be measured, cutted and pasted with extreme care. My crafting and measuring skills were largely improved after this exercise. I also found that I still need to improve my time management skills and be more creative.
